US History Quiz...

Because we have had to change the schedule around for 9th & 10th US History due to the field trip on Friday, there will be a Quiz on Wednesday, October 31st, that covers the last section of the chapter. Be sure to study! We will have a review game in preparation for the Test on Thursday, November 1st.

Extra Credit Video...

Since we did not have enough time to watch the video describing flowing fluids and the physics behind their movement, I have posted it below for you to watch for extra credit. Once you watch, simiply leave a comment that you watched it, and you can earn and extra +5 Points on the Quiz for Wednesday, October 31st.

Fluid Principles...

In 9th & 10th Physical Science we've been studying Fluid Mechanics, continuing on with our learning of how fluids can be used to magnify force. Below are threevideos we watched in class describing the science behind how tsunamis are detected....
...and how two types of fluids: the first one is an enclosed fluid that produces buoyancy...
 ...and then how moving fluids produce the Coanda Effect by adhereing to the surface of the solid. This principle is used in the physics of airplane lift.

Storybook Reading...

We are one step closer to storytelling and then speeches in the 11th & 12th American Government class. Before we begin with learning about what goes in to storytelling, we will be reading one more book to the Kindergarten class. The schedule will be as follows:

  • October 17, 2018: Books chosen
  • October 23, 2018: Books read to Mrs. Smith (Practice times due)
  • October 24-26, 2018: Books read to Kindergarten class
This will be graded as a test, and I will be listening for changes in voice, pictures pointed out, child involvement in the story, and speed in which the story is read. Practice, Practice!!

Museum Stories...

Today in 9th & 10th US History I handed back the stories written for your museum exhibits. The revised and FINISHED stories are due on Tuesday, October 23rd. This is also including those who simply had some grammatical or spelling errors. These stories will then go to the 11th & 12th who will begin working on the storytelling for you exhibit. I am looking forward to reading your final stories.
