US History Quiz...

Because we have had to change the schedule around for 9th & 10th US History due to the field trip on Friday, there will be a Quiz on Wednesday, October 31st, that covers the last section of the chapter. Be sure to study! We will have a review game in preparation for the Test on Thursday, November 1st.

Extra Credit Video...

Since we did not have enough time to watch the video describing flowing fluids and the physics behind their movement, I have posted it below for you to watch for extra credit. Once you watch, simiply leave a comment that you watched it, and you can earn and extra +5 Points on the Quiz for Wednesday, October 31st.

Fluid Principles...

In 9th & 10th Physical Science we've been studying Fluid Mechanics, continuing on with our learning of how fluids can be used to magnify force. Below are threevideos we watched in class describing the science behind how tsunamis are detected....
...and how two types of fluids: the first one is an enclosed fluid that produces buoyancy...
...and then how moving fluids produce the Coanda Effect by adhereing to the surface of the solid. This principle is used in the physics of airplane lift.

Museum Stories...

Today in 9th & 10th US History I handed back the stories written for your museum exhibits. The revised and FINISHED stories are due on Tuesday, October 23rd. This is also including those who simply had some grammatical or spelling errors. These stories will then go to the 11th & 12th who will begin working on the storytelling for you exhibit. I am looking forward to reading your final stories.

Work, Energy, & Power Video....

To tie together the work, energy, & power we have studied in 9th & 10th Physical Science we watched a video during the lecture in class. For anyone wanting to review these concepts or if you were absent then watch the video below.

US History Class Video...

For those in the 9th & 10th US History class who would like to rewatch the videos from the lecture today or for those who were absent from class I am posting them below. These two videos ties together the different sections we've been studying about in this new chapter.

Branches of Government...

In 11th-12th Government this last week, we studied an overview of the three branches of American Government. As a way to remember these individual offices, we literally created "Branches of Government". Each branch is represented on the tree trunk and the characteristics of each branch are described on the bushiness of the tree. Great job on each picture! Now we'll begin an in-depth study of each branch in the next couple of weeks.

US History Museum Project...

This is a reminder to the 9th and 10th US History Class that you need to be working on writing a story for your museum display. This means each group will need to be reading information about their chosen topic and then writing a story that involves these facts. There is no specific length that it must be, but the qualifications I do have is that it is creative, typed in Times New Roman font size 12, and put in a report folder. Remember to think outside the box! This story is due Friday, October 5th. I'm hoping to be able to give you time in class this next week to work together on this assignment. I'm looking forward to reading them!

Video Bonus...

Watch this video from Mr. Anderson at Bozeman Science to earn an extra +5 Bonus Points on the quiz over 2A-B on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.

DISCLAIMER: In this video you will see exactly how scientists with a naturalistic worldview believer that the universe began with a big bang. He begins with the premise that since matter is growing farther apart (with dark matter supposedly filling in the empty spaces), scientists will reverse the timeline to the point where everything began at one point in time. Hence the Big Bang Theory.

What they don't acount for is where that dot of matter and energy came from. With a Biblical perspective, when God spoke the world into existence, matter was created.

But the rest of the video will be a review of the basics of matter. Watch...review...and earn!

The Story of Air France Flight 447...

The introduction to the first chapter in our 9th and 10th grade Physical Science told the story of the last fatal flight of Air France flight 447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris in 2009. As we learned about the applications of science into real life situations we also studied about the use of models and the scientific method.

For two years little was known about what actually happened during the final minutes of the crew and passengers who were 370 miles out into the Atlantic. Billions of Euros were spent recovery small pieces here and there. Much speculation was made until finally both black boxes were uncovered in 2011.

During the last four days we only scratched the surface of how physics and chemistry played a part in the crash and the recovery of AF 447. Below is a serious of four, fifteen minute videos produced by the BBC and uploaded onto YouTube that describe in more depth the science behind those lost on Flight 447.

Research Paper Topics....

Here is a reminder that on Monday, January 8th, research paper topics are due at the beginning of science class. You should be going your top three choices that you made on last Wednesday, making sure there is enough information for you to have seven to ten sources, two of which have to be books from the library. Choosing a topic that is interesting to you will make the writing of this 1500 to 2000 word paper that much easier. Once topics have been chosen you will not be able to change it in the weeks following If you have any questions, leave me a comment below or send me an e-mail.
