US History Test Study Guide...
On Monday, September 18th, there will be a US History Test for 9th and 10th over chapter three. Thanks to Cynthia click HERE to get pictures of her study guide over the forty-two questions, including two essays. Please let me know if you have any questions BEFORE you take your test in class on Monday.
Cytology in Biology...
In Biology class we have started chapter 3 on Cytology: the study of the cell. Even though many of my students are gone to the volleyball tournament, I still taught over 3.1-3.2 on how the study of cells relates to the development of the microscope. We also saw that how cells make up living organisms making them have the same attributes of life of a living organism...only in a little different form than what we think of. Be VERY familiar with the Chart 3-1 on p. 58 where a description of how the cell performs the attributes of life are described. Again, be VERY, VERY familiar with this chart.
Also there are two different types of organisms according to the number of cells they have: unicellular and multiicellular. Unicellular organisms only have one cell as seen in bacteria, protozoans, and algae. Multicellular organisms are made up of two or more cells. Humans, animals, and plants are all examples of multicellular organisms.
With multicellular organisms cells are grouped together according to their functions...similar to people with the same language and culture tend to live in the same land area. When we have similar cells performing a similar function we have tissues. Tissues that perform similar functions group together to form organs. Organs group together to form Organ Systems. These are all key terms discussed in class and should be remembered for a quiz or test.
Here is also a video of an overview of the cell. Watch now and then feel free to come back and watch again and again as we go over each individual part of the cell: how they function, what they look like,, and where they are located at in the cell. Mr. Anderson does a fantastic job putting this chapter in perspective for us.

UPDATE on Classroom Competitions...
Currently we have two competitions going on in my classes. First of all thank you to everyone who has brought toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls along with material rolls for our log cabin we will begin constructing in October. The prize for this competition is a Homework Pass Coupon and +5 Bonus Points added to your lowest Test score. For the Box Top competition I am giving away $50 MBA Bucks for the person who brings in the most in this first nine weeks. Here are the results for both competitions so far:

Extra Credit Biology Videos...
Since our biology test is scheduled for Thursday, September 14th, check out these two videos for five extra credit points.

These are the first two monomers we talked about under Organic Chemistry. Watch these two videos and leave me a comment below. I will then add five extra bonus points on your next test.
