US History Project Details...

Since the last four weeks of school have been absolutely crazy due to winter weather, I've had to tweak the 9th and 10th US History Projects on Ronald Reagan. Check out these new details under the US History class to the right. Simply click on the PROJECT: A Portrait of Reagan for all the new details. I will be handing out requirements on Monday and topics will be chosen. We will complete this class project by Friday, April 3rd. Be sure to bring materials for all the workdays: March 19-20, 2015, and March 30th-April 3, 2015. Your participation will be one test grade along with the project/paper itself, the second test grade.

I look forward to seeing all your creativity!!!

What's Due Monday...

Hard to believe but last week we only had one full day of school and that was on Thursday!! The homework assignments that were given out in all of my classes for last week became all out of whack. So while getting my lesson plans all worked out for this coming week I have fixed the Weekly Assignments tabs under each class. Please check them out before coming to class on Monday.

Here are some of the major things due on Monday, February 23rd, that were due last Friday:
  • Chemistry-
    • 25 Notecards due (100 total)
    • Working Bibliography
  • Physical World-
    • 25 Notecards due (100 total)
    • Working Bibliography
  • Economics-
    • Research Paper Topic Due
Please be sure to have all of these assignments ready for Monday, February 23rd, or a homework slip will be given and a 0% assigned as your grade. Then be sure to check out your Weekly Assignments tabs for the corrected homework plans.

Economic's Class Debate...

A huge "Thank You" to Zach for putting together the segments from our first Economics Debate, held  on Monday, January 26th. The topic was "The Raising of the Minimum Wage to $15 an hour." I'm looking forward to the next set of debates held at the end of April!

Studying State and Local Government...

We've studied the Preamble, the U.S. Constitution, the Articles, all 27 Amendments to the Constitution, the three branches of government, the federal government's bureaucracy, and powers exercised by both the federal and local governments. This last week the 11th and 12th American Government class has concentrated our efforts on state and local governments.

I want to let you in on a little secret: this class LOVES to be creative. They are masters at thinking outside the box.

How do I know? Just take a look at some of the different ways that they used to display the breakdown of different state's governments:

Great use of our own state....
Love the state flag as the background while the offices of the states government were described in detail on separate papers...
 Super lettering and drawing...
 Such creativity...
 Simplistically educational...
Great job, Class! Once again you've done a fantastic job!!

Working Down to the Wire...

We're nearing the end of the first semester and the end of our U.S. History project boards. The 9th and 10th have been hard at work and their creative juices have been flowing. They've been busily cutting and gluing....
 ...and picking out eye-popping paper....
I can't wait to see their finished products!

Now the project boards are due Monday, December 8th, for me to grade. They will go on display in the gym on Friday, December 12th, after the elementary Christmas program which begins at 7 pm.

You're all invited to come out, listen to the performances, and then browse the displays of artwork and projects that various classes have worked on throughout the semester, starting with the 1st grade all the way through the 12th.
